Where it all began

The founders of Arter, Ossi Ritola ja Jussi Moisio worked in the 1990s as the main evaluators of the Finnish Standards Association. The ISO 9001 standard had just been published and it created a wave of the certification of quality management systems in Finland. From the evaluation of quality management, Ossi and Jussi quickly moved to evaluating environmental and safety systems.

In 1998, Ossi and Jussi became entrepreneurs. In the beginning, the company was called Qualitas Fennica. It focused on building systems, evaluating capabilities and supporting leadership. Important concepts such as Lean, 5S, BSC and Six Sigma were explored and applied thoroughly. In essence, it was always about business development - only the perspective changed depending.

Integrated Management System to Support Training

Clients were more than satisfied with the training and material they received, but they needed an internet-based platform to support development. The question arose of how to build systems, visualize processes and create metrics. IMS-software was created as a solution, and is today used by companies such as Wärtsilä Corporation, Mehiläinen and City of Oulu. The company operated under the name IMS Business Solutions Solutions from 2001-2017.

TTT

Throughout this process we realised how well technology, content creation and substantive know-how complement each other. When clients need a development platform, they also want training and support for its deployment. On the other hand, when a client needs training, there is often a need for technology as well. This resulted in the successful implementation of the TTT strategy: Technology, Task Model, and Talent. The ARC software was built on the TTT strategy. Arter ARC enables us to visualise relations between activities and thus leads to change.

Company

The corporate brand experienced a face lift in the spring of 2017, resulting in the name Arter Oy. At the same time, we moved to the current website. The number of employees has increased to over fifty and the turnover is growing steadily. We develop our services according to client organisations' needs. At the moment, topical themes include service design, preparation for the EU's GDPR, and the regional government, health and social services reform. The company's first name, Qualitas Fennica, continues to live in QF training.
